ECMA Weekend

How do you compress an amazing ECMA weekend in to a less than novel-sized blog? We’re going see how!

THURSDAY NIGHT
Flew in Thursday night to immediately take the Cosmic Crew down to Gitano’s for a rocking set after the fabulous MIR ( didn’t they rock on the ECMA Broadcase Sun night?!) as part of the ALIANT / East Coast Countdown music evening. Big thanks out to Jimmy & Co & Family for a fantastic night.
After the set, we went and chilled at the Crowne & Moose and caught Shanneyganock. They are a party on stage and they rocked the Molson event all night long.

FRIDAY
Up early for the 10:20 AM performance ( yes, mega early – but we love it )! On site for one-on-one meetings with the international delegates who were all really comfortable to talk with. Shelley Nordstrom did a fantastic job with recruitment this year! Back for 6:00 PM Radio ECMA show, then off to eat and shower before the big MNB Friday night.
Whalen’s Gate was host to New Brunswick with a stellar line-up of talent. Chris was playing with Mel Keith & Samantha Robichaud and we also caught the Divorcees and Rik Reese & Neon Highway. In the midst of these performances, Damhnait Doyle & Jian Gomeshi stopped by to screech in Jian for the CBC TV crew. What a blast! Haha

SATURDAY
Up and at the Crowne & Moose for the early performances. Then off to panels ( Lynn Daigle was invited to be a part of the panel on making money on the digital world ), and finally something to eat! Chris managed to get some more time in at the MNB Stage at caught Kolin Barley, Troy Neilson & Nayles ( and was bummed about missing the Forward Music night – what a great lineup ) but had to leave for his own show at the Crowne & Moose for Molson. From 12:30 – 1:30 CCCC rocked the room so hard that a beam fell down from the rafters ( true!). Then the great guys from NFLND inclusing Denis Parker and Wade Pinhorn chilled with a blues inspired set topped off by the great guys from Shanneygonock. What a night!

SUNDAY
Early AM to get tickets, go to Industry Awards brunch , then soundcheck for the Songwriters Circle. At 2:30 Chris Colepaugh joined Ron Hynes, Steve MacDougall, Dave Carrol and Maureen Ennis for an intimate performance for CBC Radio.

Sunday night was the much anticipated Awards show. Although it was Chris who brought home the hardware for entertainer of the year, he definitely proved he was just that during the weekend.
